Performance Week.

IT WAS THE ASIAN!!!!!!!
I thought that Mandy would have stolen it but Joanna did! We were all sitting around the table Jacqueline, Mandy, Joanna and myself. Simply talking and then suddenly out of the blue I remember the thesaurus. I ask Mandy if she had it and she said no, I turn to the asian and she has a big smile on her face. I ask her if she has my beloved thesaurus she says yes, as if it was as simple as me asking her whether she was watching the television or not. She clearly doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation, I turn to Jacqueline and I can see she is as upset and angry as I am. I'm about to use a lot of big words to describe how I feel to Joanna but before I can she giggles and walks away! Quite frankly I'm flabbergasted but oh well what can I do. You may not really understand the beginnings of this post very well if you haven't read my previous blog, so if your questioning my sanity please go back and read further.

So It is Sunday and I just finished the performance week of "beneath the skin" which is a showcase of WAAPA's third year dance students choreography. I feel that it went very well and I'm very proud of all my fellow third years for putting up such incredible dance pieces. This up coming week is going to be a struggle, I have rehearsals with the West Australian Ballet, I have my own choreography during the night times and I think that we will be rehearsing for the end of year production as well. I now know for certain that I will be in it. I was unsure because of the whole wicked thing but I got an email today telling me that unfortunately I was unsuccessful, but they still have me on the records. So if someone gets injured or decides to leave they still have me but by that point I will probably doing something else. Hopefully in a company somewhere. I've been sitting here writing this blog while listening to the great Ezio Bosso and Philip Glass and discovered how much easier it is to write with such beautiful music as these two men are giving me. I hope everyone is well, and enjoys my blog because I know I enjoy writing it.

Weeks at Waapa

So I've been back at Waapa a few weeks now, and it is anything but calm and quiet. I have been so busy that I even broke down in front of my choreography cast the other day, very embarrassing. They helped me through it though, so I am very thankful to all of them for that. My choreography is coming along slowly but surely. I just hope that I can do myself proud with it. I was able to watch the other third years choreography the other day and was blown away, they very beautiful, I hope that mine is almost up to that standard. This was my first week working with the West Australian Ballet Company and it was very fun. I'm quite surprised at how much I am being used, I'm also quite flattered. I thought that we would be up the back doing beautiful ballet acting... God i hate ballet acting, how many times can i say to different people "oh my" and "gosh I'm angry." The music in this ballet is super annoying, why does it need to have so many different time signatures in one piece of music. It looks like its going to be quite a beautiful ballet I'm excited to perform it. So I still haven't heard back from Wicked yet which upsets me. I really really wanted to get in, but oh well it just means that something else will be coming my way.

And now onto the mysterious story of the missing thesaurus.
My good friend Jacqueline and I love words, so naturally we decided to get a thesaurus from the library. Originally Jacqueline was going to get the thesaurus from the library, but she had to many overdue books and a substantial $11 fine... Huge I know. Therefore i decided it must be me to get the thesaurus from the library. Jacqueline was ever so excited the night i brought it home. We had such fun looking up words such as insipid, vapid, jezebel, pungent, charismatic and many other words. I would have added more words just then but i can't. Mysteriously our beloved thesaurus has gone missing we are quite upset. I was going to go print out some missing signs with a small reward but then thought again and decided not to. Number 1 on our suspect list is my sneaky, slippery dutch flat mate Mandy. We think she might have stolen it, in spite of the fun we were having. She might actually be using it which just sounds horrible. Number 2 on our hit list is the infamous asian Joanna. Knowing Joanna it will probably be defiled with asian sauce. The story behind the asian sauce is that one night, Joanna was cooking and we asked what sauce she was using tonight. Simply she told us Asian sauce which was not helpful. So all in all, we ask whoever out there has our dear thesaurus, please bring it back to us unharmed and you shant be punished.

First Week back at Waapa

This week was my first week back at Waapa, and i had very mixed feelings about it. I was happy to be back but also wished i was still at home a little. Wow was it an epic week. Tuesday I had an audition for the musical 'Wicked' which was fun. We learnt a dance from a scene in the show, the choreography was a bit strange but nothing i couldn't pick up or handle. I got a call back after that audition with two other dancers from Waapa, we just had to learn some lifts and stuff which was easy. They seemed quite shocked that I could do all the lifts, i was surprised because the lifts weren't hard they were just normal. I got a call last night asking if i could please prepare a song for another call back. It needs to be from a contemporary musical lucky, i have friends in the musical theatre department. I chose the song 'Corner of the sky' from the musical 'Pippin' its a nice song and i can hit all the notes which is nice. I also found out this week that i might be performing for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting when it comes to Perth. I would be performing with a few other Waapa students which should be an amazing experience, hopefully it happens. We started rehearsing a piece called 'Jabula' by the choreographer Natalie Weir who is the artistic director of Expression Dance Company. It is a beautiful piece and i really hope that we do it justice. I also start working with the West Australian Ballet Company on their season of 'The Taming of the Shrew' which should be fun. I have never seen the ballet before and look forward to it because i have heard great things about John Cranko's choreography. Quite frankly i have a ridiculously busy semester, and its going to go by so fast because i have so much on so i'm a little nervous but oh well. My good friend and photography Evan Dylan arrived in Perth the other day, and i'm currently sitting in this beautiful house he has rented out. We plan to take some amazing photos while he is here. So i will update with some pics when i get the chance.

My Dream Last Night

So i had the craziest dream last night, and i thought i have to document this and what better way than to put it on my blog.
It starts off with a group of us learning George Balanchine's serenade, which i just did at waapa. But it wasn't the serenade that i knew i think, also it wasn't all the kids from wappa that i did it with, it was with a lot of randoms. Somehow i was getting the spacing wrong or something i can't truly remember 100%. Once we had finished the ballet we went back to the kingdom hahahahaha i know weird. It wasn't just any kingdom our castle was inside a mountain and they had carved the mountain so it looked incredible. We were ballet crusaders i think because we got huge cheers from all the spectators who had come to welcome us home. We each took an individual bow, but then an Arab boy came up to take his bow and no one cheered. In my mind, this part was a bird's eye view and we zoomed out as the boy went up for his bow. I was so shocked that no one would cheer for him. So we decided to throw the queen (who looked like Aunt Marge from Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban) down a giant crack in the mountain. From where i was looking it looked spectacular. But apparently she got caught half way down so we decided to leave her there. After a few years we came back to her and pulled her up. She had somehow gotten hugely fat like in the movie again. I was still angry with her so i threw her off the cliff this time. This is where i woke up. I just thought it was so funny that i had to share it.
