Wellington

So I have been in Wellington for two weeks now and I'm having the best time ever! Its amazing to finally get paid for what I love to do. (Not that Ive been paid yet my bank details haven't gone through yet because  I had to set up a New Zealand Bank and get an IRD number)
So week one finished and we had learnt the entire of Act 2. I am first cast Prince which is the mouse that does a Pas De Deux with Angelina in the first act. Then for second cast I'm Henry which is the cheeky mouse in the Act 1. I'm also Marco who plays the bongo drum but dances in a Spanish way weird I know. The roles are really fun but actually surprisingly hard. Having the heads on makes quite a large difference. We learnt the whole of Act 1 in week 2. This week the choreographer of the ballet is coming from England to help with rehearsals which is a little scary. I surprisingly don't have much to write or maybe today just isn't my day. I haven't taken any pictures yet which is weird for me I know. Quite frankly I just can't wait to get to Sydney, it will be amazing to finally get home and have a break and chill with friends I'm so excited.
Maybe update soon.

The Big Wide World

Hello everyone,
I know I haven't updated my blog in soooooo long I'm terribly sorry. I've just been so busy. So I haven't updated since the third year choreography works wow. Well a lot has happened between now and then. I did end up performing for the Queen along with 52 other heads of government. That was an experience of a lifetime. I can technically only go down from here hahahaha. Once you have performed for the people who run this planet your pretty much done.

I went off to New Zealand in september to audition for the Royal New Zealand Ballet which was amazing and I got a six month contract to tour with them on their season of Angelina Ballerina which is like a little kids ballet.

We had an amazing end of year season. Serenade looked amazing even if I was bored to tears practically everyday. Especially because I was injured with my sprained toe which was just the most irritating thing to happen on the planet. Could the timing possibly be worse? Because of that stupid little toe I didn't end up being able to do the boys solo, duo and trio in Jabula. I wasn't that upset about not being able to be lead male in Serenade hahaha. But instead of the Boy's solo and stuff Justin asked Amelia and myself to do the big pas de deux. It has to be one of the most beautiful pas de deuxs in the world. It also helped that I had the best partner ever and I can't wait to watch her in Netherlands Dans Theatre. Jabula ended up beautiful and it didn't end up hurting my toe too much. Amelia and I were able to perform it every second night. Which meant we performed it on closing night when my mum and little sister came to watch.
They loved it. My sister hadn't watched me dance in years and she was impressed. They watched class earlier that day which was a fun class to watch. It was our last class with Kim, so we all dressed in outfits that Kim had made jokes about throughout the year. I went as a burrito because Kim calls me a burrito or piece of soggy lettuce when I do my ballet runs. It was such a fun class. The night before closing night Jackie and I watched Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts which is just one of my favourite movies and Jackie had never seen it before. We had a cry after about me leaving which was sad. I will miss that girl very much she is very important to me. I will miss everyone very much actually, but I guess after having moved out of home at 15 and then moving away from Melbourne at 17 and now moving from Perth at 19 I should be used to good-bye's.
So I wasn't able to stay after the show I only just said my goodbye's in time. I was off to the airport to get on a plane to New Zealand. I was on the 11.50pm flight which is just death but I had my new gadget to play with. My new 15" Mac Book Pro!!!! I didn't sleep a wink the entire flight to Melbourne. I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2!!!!!!! and Razzle Dazzle which was also amazing. Once in Melbourne airpot I was very bored. I was looking around the airport to see if I could find a Dermalogica skin place. They didn't have one I was upset. When I was on my way to Wellington last time I flew through Sydney and they had one, wasted about 30 mins and got free samples and a free face wash it's amazing what a little flirting, good manners and a cheeky smile will do. I really needed one this trip I still hadn't washed off my makeup which the beautiful and amazing Talia had done for me. Not that I was wearing much, mainly cheek bones of course. God I love cheek bones. I then got on the plane to Wellington, I think I must have had a small sleep because I woke up with one of those customs cards on my tray table. Getting into Wellington I am one of the first off the plane (Yesssss I will be one of the first to get my bag and get out!!!) Get to the carousel and wait and wait and wait... Eventually sit down, legs are sore. Start to nod off but get scared that if I do nod off I will miss my bag. Bag doesn't come... Thanks New Zealand what a wonderful welcome. I give the lady my details so she can send it to me at my new address in Kelburn a suburb in Wellington. All this time Susanne the lady I am staying with has been waiting outside and I haven't been able to contact her because my phone decides to not work... I eventually get to the house after being awake for 28 hours (gross) have a shower and go off to Wellington city to meet up with all the people in Angelina. It was lovely to meet them all I'm glad I made the effort to go. I get home and go to bed after 32 hours of being awake.

Day 1 of Angelina was great, class was great and we learnt a lot in rehearsal which was good. All I need to do is set up a bank account and get a New Zealand phone so I can contact someone.

It is now 9.21pm and I'm ready for bed so I wish you all well.

New Photoshoot

I wanted to show you all this photo as a preview of the new photoshoot I am doing with one of my muses Kait.

Extreme Timetables

This screen has sat open for a good 20 minutes, their is so much to talk about I have no idea where to start. My choreography had its debut the other week which was very nerve wracking, I got some really positive feedback about it though which was really nice. I couldn't have been more proud of my cast in anyway. I want to take this moment to thank them for all the work that they did, the piece really would not have come together if I had not had the most amazing cast imaginable. So from the stress of the first choreography season, to then my choreography season and now working with WA Ballet will I ever get a break. Taming of the shrew is a truly beautiful ballet I'm so thankful to be given the opportunity to do it. Straight after I finish working on the ballet I am off to New Zealand to audition for the company there. I'm super nervous. I did class with the WA Ballet the other day, it was fun but I realized how much work I have to do, I am no where near good enough to get into a company. I really need to push myself these last few weeks because i really want a job. I have no idea what else to say but I really enjoy writing this.

Lovely Alex

My Latest Photoshoot with the beautiful Alex

Performance Week.

IT WAS THE ASIAN!!!!!!!
I thought that Mandy would have stolen it but Joanna did! We were all sitting around the table Jacqueline, Mandy, Joanna and myself. Simply talking and then suddenly out of the blue I remember the thesaurus. I ask Mandy if she had it and she said no, I turn to the asian and she has a big smile on her face. I ask her if she has my beloved thesaurus she says yes, as if it was as simple as me asking her whether she was watching the television or not. She clearly doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation, I turn to Jacqueline and I can see she is as upset and angry as I am. I'm about to use a lot of big words to describe how I feel to Joanna but before I can she giggles and walks away! Quite frankly I'm flabbergasted but oh well what can I do. You may not really understand the beginnings of this post very well if you haven't read my previous blog, so if your questioning my sanity please go back and read further.

So It is Sunday and I just finished the performance week of "beneath the skin" which is a showcase of WAAPA's third year dance students choreography. I feel that it went very well and I'm very proud of all my fellow third years for putting up such incredible dance pieces. This up coming week is going to be a struggle, I have rehearsals with the West Australian Ballet, I have my own choreography during the night times and I think that we will be rehearsing for the end of year production as well. I now know for certain that I will be in it. I was unsure because of the whole wicked thing but I got an email today telling me that unfortunately I was unsuccessful, but they still have me on the records. So if someone gets injured or decides to leave they still have me but by that point I will probably doing something else. Hopefully in a company somewhere. I've been sitting here writing this blog while listening to the great Ezio Bosso and Philip Glass and discovered how much easier it is to write with such beautiful music as these two men are giving me. I hope everyone is well, and enjoys my blog because I know I enjoy writing it.

Weeks at Waapa

So I've been back at Waapa a few weeks now, and it is anything but calm and quiet. I have been so busy that I even broke down in front of my choreography cast the other day, very embarrassing. They helped me through it though, so I am very thankful to all of them for that. My choreography is coming along slowly but surely. I just hope that I can do myself proud with it. I was able to watch the other third years choreography the other day and was blown away, they very beautiful, I hope that mine is almost up to that standard. This was my first week working with the West Australian Ballet Company and it was very fun. I'm quite surprised at how much I am being used, I'm also quite flattered. I thought that we would be up the back doing beautiful ballet acting... God i hate ballet acting, how many times can i say to different people "oh my" and "gosh I'm angry." The music in this ballet is super annoying, why does it need to have so many different time signatures in one piece of music. It looks like its going to be quite a beautiful ballet I'm excited to perform it. So I still haven't heard back from Wicked yet which upsets me. I really really wanted to get in, but oh well it just means that something else will be coming my way.

And now onto the mysterious story of the missing thesaurus.
My good friend Jacqueline and I love words, so naturally we decided to get a thesaurus from the library. Originally Jacqueline was going to get the thesaurus from the library, but she had to many overdue books and a substantial $11 fine... Huge I know. Therefore i decided it must be me to get the thesaurus from the library. Jacqueline was ever so excited the night i brought it home. We had such fun looking up words such as insipid, vapid, jezebel, pungent, charismatic and many other words. I would have added more words just then but i can't. Mysteriously our beloved thesaurus has gone missing we are quite upset. I was going to go print out some missing signs with a small reward but then thought again and decided not to. Number 1 on our suspect list is my sneaky, slippery dutch flat mate Mandy. We think she might have stolen it, in spite of the fun we were having. She might actually be using it which just sounds horrible. Number 2 on our hit list is the infamous asian Joanna. Knowing Joanna it will probably be defiled with asian sauce. The story behind the asian sauce is that one night, Joanna was cooking and we asked what sauce she was using tonight. Simply she told us Asian sauce which was not helpful. So all in all, we ask whoever out there has our dear thesaurus, please bring it back to us unharmed and you shant be punished.

First Week back at Waapa

This week was my first week back at Waapa, and i had very mixed feelings about it. I was happy to be back but also wished i was still at home a little. Wow was it an epic week. Tuesday I had an audition for the musical 'Wicked' which was fun. We learnt a dance from a scene in the show, the choreography was a bit strange but nothing i couldn't pick up or handle. I got a call back after that audition with two other dancers from Waapa, we just had to learn some lifts and stuff which was easy. They seemed quite shocked that I could do all the lifts, i was surprised because the lifts weren't hard they were just normal. I got a call last night asking if i could please prepare a song for another call back. It needs to be from a contemporary musical lucky, i have friends in the musical theatre department. I chose the song 'Corner of the sky' from the musical 'Pippin' its a nice song and i can hit all the notes which is nice. I also found out this week that i might be performing for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting when it comes to Perth. I would be performing with a few other Waapa students which should be an amazing experience, hopefully it happens. We started rehearsing a piece called 'Jabula' by the choreographer Natalie Weir who is the artistic director of Expression Dance Company. It is a beautiful piece and i really hope that we do it justice. I also start working with the West Australian Ballet Company on their season of 'The Taming of the Shrew' which should be fun. I have never seen the ballet before and look forward to it because i have heard great things about John Cranko's choreography. Quite frankly i have a ridiculously busy semester, and its going to go by so fast because i have so much on so i'm a little nervous but oh well. My good friend and photography Evan Dylan arrived in Perth the other day, and i'm currently sitting in this beautiful house he has rented out. We plan to take some amazing photos while he is here. So i will update with some pics when i get the chance.

My Dream Last Night

So i had the craziest dream last night, and i thought i have to document this and what better way than to put it on my blog.
It starts off with a group of us learning George Balanchine's serenade, which i just did at waapa. But it wasn't the serenade that i knew i think, also it wasn't all the kids from wappa that i did it with, it was with a lot of randoms. Somehow i was getting the spacing wrong or something i can't truly remember 100%. Once we had finished the ballet we went back to the kingdom hahahahaha i know weird. It wasn't just any kingdom our castle was inside a mountain and they had carved the mountain so it looked incredible. We were ballet crusaders i think because we got huge cheers from all the spectators who had come to welcome us home. We each took an individual bow, but then an Arab boy came up to take his bow and no one cheered. In my mind, this part was a bird's eye view and we zoomed out as the boy went up for his bow. I was so shocked that no one would cheer for him. So we decided to throw the queen (who looked like Aunt Marge from Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban) down a giant crack in the mountain. From where i was looking it looked spectacular. But apparently she got caught half way down so we decided to leave her there. After a few years we came back to her and pulled her up. She had somehow gotten hugely fat like in the movie again. I was still angry with her so i threw her off the cliff this time. This is where i woke up. I just thought it was so funny that i had to share it.

Just a few of my pics i wanted to share.

My holiday in Sydney

I thought for my first blog post it would be appropriate to start with my holiday in Sydney. Sydney is my home and my love, no matter where I end up in the world Sydney will always have a very special place in my heart. The weekend I got into Sydney was the weekend of my 19th birthday which was really nice, I love spending time with my family. Its amazing to be independent, but I do forget how much I miss them and enjoy their company. On my flight over we had an amazing experience, the captain announced over the speakers that if we looked out the right side of the plane we could see another plane flying 1000 feet away, in the picture it looks close but he said we were a very safe distance. The plane was emirates coming from Abu Dhabi. I had a family breakfast on the Sunday morning which was a little mean of mum, because she had set the time for the breakfast for 8am which in Perth time is 6am, which meant I had to be awake at 7am, so 5am Perth time, I was not a happy chappy... It wasn't as bad as I had anticipated, being that early in the morning. The whole of my mum's side of the family was there which was amazing because I hadn't seen some of them for a long time. I spent the rest of that day with Mum and Lok my brother, we went shopping around the city and the Bondi markets which was awesome, I got some great new clothes. On the Tuesday I did class with one of my old teachers which was amazing because i hadn't seen her for a long time, she was impressed by my work which is really nice to hear. I spent the rest of my week doing class with Sydney Dance Company which was AMAZING, I have decided that i must join that company one day, I don't think i'm ready for it yet but hopefully in a few years i will be. It has been so wet and gross all week, really???? couldn't just for the one week i get to Sydney have nice weather please is that so much to ask?? Today (Saturday) i caught up with a friend that i met back when i was at the Australian ballet school. He is a model, it was so nice to see him because we haven't caught up for ever. He has had the most amazing experience modeling i wish that i was taller and more attractive so i could do that as well. He told me tales of the infamous New York city and it literally sounded like a fairy tale i was so super jealous. Tomorrow we are having a whole bunch of old family friends over for dinner to say hello and farewell to me which is going to be super nice. This whole blogging thing even though i have only just started is fun i cant wait to have something else to write about hahaha.
